Farm Field Trip

Visit Happy Tails Homestead for an interactive outdoor learning experience.  Farm field trips are designed to help kids learn about small-scale homesteading, animal caretaking, and life on a mini-farm.

Children (and adults!) are invited to participate in several of the every-day activities to learn concepts like responsibility, hard work, and caring for others. They can also enjoy hands-on lessons designed to build homesteading, animal caretaking, and outdoor skills.

Farm Activities

Farm field trips include several of the every-day activities that occur on a farm. From collecting eggs to cleaning coops, kids are invited to engage and have fun. 

Some activities are optional and most can be altered based on age and abilities.

Collect, Clean + Candle Eggs

Our friendly hens lay an assortment of brown, white, and blue eggs! Kids can team up to clean and collect fresh eggs. Afterwards, we will candle them to see what's inside!

Animal Encounters

Animals need love too! Feed, pet, and interact with our fluff and feathered family. Treats are provided, but feel free to bring your own if you'd like (everyone loves carrots!)

Animal Caretaking

Having animals isn't just kisses and cuddles. They require a lot of care. Kids can learn the importance of caring for others through cleaning coops + stalls , providing clean water, and routine care activities.

Pony Rides

Horseback riding is a great way to build confidence - - and kids love getting a view of the farm from horseback. We offer guided walks around the farm, through the trails, and in the roundpen.

Outdoor Adventures

Walking the trails, hunting for bugs, nature scavenger hunts...We offer free time for kids to safely explore, adventure, play, socialize, and let their imaginations roam free.

Seasonal Activities

Every season is unique - - especially when you live on a farm. Summer and fall activities at Happy Tails Homestead usually includes collecting fresh pears, figs, and (wild) blackberries.
