Visit Happy Tails Homestead for an interactive outdoor learning experience. Homestead Helpers is a homeschool program designed for kids, ages 6+, to learn about small-scale homesteading, animal caretaking, and life on a mini-farm.
Parents are invited to stay and participate for free to ensure a safe and fun learning environment for all.

Details:
Our Homestead Helpers incorporates a variety of outdoor and farm-related themes, exploring specific topics for 3-6 weeks. Each week features fun, hands-on lessons designed to build homesteading, animal caretaking, and outdoor skills.

Program Summary:
This six week program is perfect for those interested in learning more about equine care and handling. We will learn best safety practices for horse and handler, basic horse care, grooming practices, and horse training techniques. Homestead Helpers will also get the opportunity to ride during two of the sessions.

Program Summary:
This 7-week program takes a deep dive into the woods – – as we learn about how early homesteaders survived on the land. We will learn basic survival skills such as fire starting, water collection + purification, cooking over a fire, creating weapons and tools, natural resources, and shelter building. This program will wrap up with an *optional* overnight camping session!

There’s always work to do on a farm. In this 3 week program, our Homestead Helpers can help perform some routine farm maintenance tasks like mending fences and improving animal enclosures. Sessions and tasks will depend on what projects need to be done at the time.

Program Summary:
Keeping your animals well is not always an easy task. Horses especially are known to be accident prone and susceptible to injury and illnesses. In this 5 week program, we will go over key skills for keeping your equine well and learn how to identify and treat health problems. Kids will gain hands-on experience in checking vitals, treating injuries, and learning about common health issues.
